🌹 The Reward for Sending Salat (Durood) Upon the Prophet ﷺ
Hadith:
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ:
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ:
“مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ وَاحِدَةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا، وَحُطَّتْ عَنْهُ عَشْرُ خَطَايَا، وَرُفِعَتْ لَهُ عَشْرُ دَرَجَاتٍ”
Translation:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever sends one salat (Durood) upon me, Allah will send ten mercies upon him, ten of his sins will be erased, and ten degrees will be raised for him.”

درودِ ابراہیمی (Darood Sharif)

اے اللہ! محمد ﷺ اور آلِ محمد ﷺ پر رحمت بھیج جیسا کہ تو نے ابراہیم علیہ السلام اور ان کے گھرانے پر بھیجی۔ بے‌شک تو بہت بابرکت اور شان والا ہے۔ اور محمد ﷺ اور اُن کے گھرانے پر برکت نازل فرما جیسا کہ تو نے ابراہیم علیہ السلام پر برکت نازل فرمائی۔ بے شک تو تعریف کے لائق ہے۔

O Allah! Send Your mercy upon Muhammad ﷺ and upon the family of Muhammad ﷺ, just as You sent mercy upon Ibrahim (Abraham) and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.

And bless Muhammad ﷺ and the family of Muhammad ﷺ, just as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.

🌿 Command and Virtue of Sending Blessings (Darood) upon the Prophet ﷺ

Hadith:

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ:
“مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ صَلَاةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ بِهَا عَشْرًا”
Translation:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever sends one blessing (salat) upon me,
Allah will send ten blessings upon him in return.”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 408)

🌿 نبی ﷺ پر درود بھیجنے کا حکم اور فضیلت

حدیث:

(صحیح مسلم، حدیث نمبر: 408)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ:
“مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ صَلَاةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ بِهَا عَشْرًا”
ترجمہ:
جو شخص مجھ پر ایک مرتبہ درود بھیجتا ہے،
اللہ تعالیٰ اس پر دس رحمتیں نازل فرماتا ہے۔

🌸 The Best Salutation — Darood Ibrahim

Hadith:

كَیفَ نُصَلِّی عَلَیْکَ یَا رَسُولَ اللّٰہ؟
The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked:
“O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! We know how to send peace upon you,
but how should we send blessings upon you?”

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“قُولُوا: اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ…”

Translation:
“Say: O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad ﷺ and upon the family of Muhammad ﷺ,
as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim.
Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.”

حدیث:

کَیفَ نُصَلِّی عَلَیْکَ یَا رَسُولَ اللّٰہ؟
صحابہ کرامؓ نے عرض کیا:
یا رسول اللہ ﷺ! ہم آپ پر سلام تو جانتے ہیں،
اب ہمیں یہ بتائیے کہ ہم آپ پر درود کیسے بھیجیں؟
نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا:
“قُولُوا: اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ…”
ترجمہ:
تم یوں کہا کرو: اے اللہ! محمد ﷺ اور آلِ محمد ﷺ پر رحمت نازل فرما،
جیسا کہ تو نے ابراہیم علیہ السلام اور ان کی آل پر رحمت نازل فرمائی۔
بے شک تو تعریف کے لائق اور بزرگی والا ہے۔

Today, we’re going to learn about a prayer that is like a beautiful gift. It’s a prayer that every Muslim says in their daily Salah (prayer). This special prayer is called Durood e Ibrahimi.

What Exactly is Durood e Ibrahim?

Durood e Ibrahim is the beautiful set of words we recite while sitting in our Namaz. When the Imam says “Allahumma salli ala Muhammadin…”, we all join in and recite this Darood Sharif.

It is a way of sending our blessings, peace, and love to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and his family. That’s why it is also often called Durood Pak or the “Pure Blessings.”

The Words of Durood e Ibrahim

Here are the words of Durood e Ibrahim that we should try to memorize:

In Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

In English:
“O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, just as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.”

In simple terms, we are asking Allah: “Oh Allah, please be kind to Prophet Muhammad and his family, just like You were kind to Prophet Ibrahim and his family. You are the Greatest. Oh Allah, please shower Your blessings on Prophet Muhammad and his family, just like You blessed Prophet Ibrahim and his family.”

Why is it Named After Prophet Ibrahim?

You might have noticed that this Darood e Ibrahim mentions two great Prophets: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.). The reason is simple and beautiful. Allah commanded us to send blessings on our Prophet in a similar way to how we send blessings on Prophet Ibrahim. This connects our faith to the great legacy of Prophet Ibrahim. So, that’s how it got its name, Durood e Ibrahim.

Why is Reciting Durood Pak So Important?

Reciting Durood Sharif is an essential part of our faith because Allah Himself commands it in the Holy Quran:

“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, send your blessings upon him, and send him greetings of peace.” (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:56)

So, when we recite Darood Pak, we are actually following a direct order from Allah. It is a sign of our belief and our love for the Prophet (PBUH).

The Amazing Benefits of Durood e Ibrahim

This short prayer has so many wonderful benefits:

Allah’s Love: The person who regularly recites Durood e Ibrahim becomes beloved to Allah.
Sins Are Forgiven: Reciting Durood Pak helps in having our small sins forgiven.
Dua Gets Accepted: When we say Darood Sharif before making a Dua (supplication), it has a much better chance of being accepted by Allah.
The Prophet’s Intercession: On the Day of Judgment, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will specially recognize and intercede for those who used to recite Durood often in their lives.
Blessings in the Home: A home where Durood is recited regularly is filled with Allah’s mercy and blessings.

When Can We Recite Durood Sharif?

You can recite Durood e Ibrahim at any time!

Inside your Salah (this is obligatory).
Right after finishing your Salah.
Before or after eating a meal.
Before going to sleep.
When you are facing a problem or feeling sad.
Most importantly, whenever you hear or say the name of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), you should immediately send Darood Pak upon him.
